solo trip

I am planning to go to Eureka Springs by myself in mid-November. I want to relax, ride the trolley and take photographs, but I also want to make sure the town is safe if I am walking alone at night. Also, is the town small enough that I could walk within a short distance of everything? if so, which is a good area of town to stay in? Also, I love shooting pool and would love to know of some good local bars with decent people and good quarter tables.

Thanks!

Eureka Springs is quite compact -- not much more than a mile side to side in any direction, at least for the main business and tourist areas. I can%26#39;t imagine that any part of it wouldn%26#39;t be safe to walk in pretty much any time, though there was some unpleasantness between rival biker groups at a bar out on the highway back in the summer. Nowhere you%26#39;d likely be, however.

Have to let someone else comment on the bar scene and pool tables.

I have been to Eureka Springs twice by myself and never did I feel unsafe walking back to my room at night. The town is just wonderfully relaxing. There isnt a stoplight in the whole town!

As far as a place for pool The Lumberyard and Shawbees both have a nice setup. We have been to both and have had a great time. Both of these are located on W Van Buren aka 62 so unless you are staying in the attraction district you will have to drive to these places.

We really enjoy staying right downtown and there are so many options not to mention great restaurants and some awesome nightlife Chelseas is a local hangout, there is also Center Street Pub, Uncle Tucker%26#39;s Bar %26amp; Grill ,Wagon Wheel Tavern,Henri%26#39;s(a very hip and swanky tapas type bar) and Eureka Live(an Eureka Tradition)

Do you already have lodging lined up? If not here are a few plces you may want to checkout-all located in the Historic District right downtown.

Elmwood House

The Benton Place

Candlestick Cottage Inn

New Orleans Hotel

SweetSeasons Townhouses

Grand Central Hotel

Lastly if you really want to relax visit the Palace Bath house for their ';works'; massage

I have to laugh, thinking about Eureka Springs as a possible crime scene. Take a look at the local police report at the website below to get an idea of what a wild town it is. If you can%26#39;t feel safe in ES, then what%26#39;s the world coming to!

You have already received some great information. I just wanted to add another voice to the safeness of Eureka Springs. I have never had any kind of problem walking by myself at anytime of day or night. Also, check out the top of the Basin Park Hotel for pool as well. Have a wonderful time!!

Hi Miss Queen ~

I have been to Eureka Springs by myself ~ never had a problem :)

We were just there a few months ago. The downtown area is very compact %26amp; easy to walk. A lotta stuff to do!

You can play pool at Lucky 7 Rooftop Billiards, which is on the 6th floor of the Basin Park Hotel.

Mud Street Cafe has yummy food %26amp; Tommy loves their coffee.

We always visit the Crescent Hotel even if we aren%26#39;t staying there. The view is amazing and they have a lovely spa if you want a massage. Right across the street is St Elizabeth%26#39;s Church. Lovely!

There are soooo many great art galleries in ES. One we try not to miss on our trips is Al Hooks%26#39; gallery.

Ermilio%26#39;s has incredible Italian food. I%26#39;m drooling just thinking about it ~ ha! Located on the historic loop.

Sparky%26#39;s has great burgers and cool retro signs, lamps, etc. It is out on Highway 62 tho.

I could go on and on :) Have fun!

Cordially ~

Just came back from a great trip to Eureka this week.....we were staying at the Candlestick Cottage Inn.....what a great town and great B %26amp; B! Think everyone%26#39;s come to the rescue with information on where to go and all that, but my picks are Henri%26#39;s, Jack%26#39;s, and Chelsea%26#39;s for drinks and fun....perhaps Rogue%26#39;s Manor for a nice dinner or maybe Katherine%26#39;s L%26#39;Amore, and also the Balcony Bar at the Basin Hotel for drinks/lunch. I did have a GREAT portabello mushroom sandwich at both the Balcony Bar and also at Local Flavors.

Cheers!
