arkansas weather....

i was thinking of moving to arkansas from so calif...what i want to know is: how is the weather all year round....i am use to a dry climate without rain...i read arkansas get a lot of rain and it is hot, humid there.whats it really like?

arkansas weather....

Hot and humid in the summers, cold and dry in the winters. If you like the 4 seasons, Arkansas is for you. It is an incredibly scenic state, especially in the Fayetteville area.

arkansas weather....

I did just that. Moved from Southern California to Fayeteville in 2000. Good, bad and ugly.

Good - Low home prices. Nice new homes (2500 sf) on half acre lots now in the 200k range.

New smaller (1500sf) homes in Bella Vista reitrement area in the $150 range. Generally low crime rate. One of the best meat markets/deli in the world, can%26#39;t remember the name but it is one exit North of the new Embassy Suites near Bentonville. Lots of scenic country roads with farms, horses and cattle. Many lakes within short drive. My Grandson loved it, he could go crawfish hunting in the creek. No one in Fayetteville knows this but there is a travel documentary film done by a group from Belgium which shows life in Fayetteville (actually Farmington)Arkansas. Some of the best college football in the country. Your realtor could be a former NFL quarterback. You do not need a stock broker, just consider buying stock in the major corporations that have their headquarters in the area. They all seem to do great which could come in handy after you read ';Ugly';. The biggest Harley motorcycle reunion in the world is held here annualy. About 20,000 bikes come to town, these folks are really great and they have some of the most beautiful machines you will ever see. Great schools.

Bad - Chicken broilers everywhere. Better hope your house is not built on one of the old ones. But do consider buying stock in the local company that has the most famous brand frozen chicken dinners. The new airport is impossible to find and nobody in the airline industry can remember the name (Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport). The pilots make jokes about it, they just say we are landing at Fayetteville. The nearest gas station is in Oklahoma so it is impossible to comply with the rental car refill requirement. The best thing about this airport is there are several daily non-stop flights back to Southern California. Your neighbors are more likely to be Yankees (some people might want to put this in the ';Good'; column) than down home Southern folk due to the explosion created by the Wal- Mart headquarters. Forget trying to get season tickets to the Razorbacks and you will never see another West Coast NFL team on TV unless they play the Cowboys. Stay on good terms with your realtor as you will need one when you can%26#39;t wait to get back to Southern California. Consider renting on both ends since your house in Southern California will sky rocket in value and the new house in Fayetteville will take forever to sell.

Ugly - I heard two mosquitoes talking one night. One ask should we eat our prey here or take him back home. The other one replied to eat him here otherwise the big mosquitoes will take him away from us when we get back home. While you are in Fayetteville you will probably loose enough money on your California real estate to buy two houses in

Fayetteville.

It depends on where you plan on living in AR. One of my best friends is a long beach transplant. She loves it here. Not a crowded and if you like the outdoors it is wonderful.

Yeah, its hot and humid during the summers but we have all four seasons and you can go to the outdoors in all seasons and see the changes. I dont think we get an exceptional amount of rain.

NW AR is beautiful in the ';mountains';. Central AR has nice areas too.

Yes, there are chicken places in NW AR, but I never had a problem with them - smell, etc.

Dont live next to one.

Yes the airport is out of the way in NW AR, but so what...

Anyway, whether you like it here will depend on why you are moving and where.
