arkansas razorback football
Haven%26#39;t ever done tailgating in Fayetteville, as I haven%26#39;t been to a game since 1979 or so, and I was only 15 then. I have been back to Fayetteville many times since, however, since my parents still live nearby. There are no bars whatever in the immediate vicinity of the stadium. Ground zero for nightlife in Fayetteville is Dickson Street, about 3/4 of a mile east of the stadium. To get there, go to the east side of the stadium, along Stadium Drive. From about the midfield point, you should see a driveway going up the hill, along the left side of the athletic dorms. Head up that way, and keep going between the the left side of the parking and transportation center and the right side of the Arkansas Union building (the student union). Cross N. Garland Avenue, and keep going east on the sidewalk that%26#39;s aligned with the crosswalk. You should now have the Arkansas Union building and the plaza in front of it to your left, the Fine Arts Building to your right, and the Mullins Library in front and slightly to the left of you. Keep going straight ahead on that sidewalk. You%26#39;ll pass the Billingsley Music Building, the Chemistry Building, on your right, and Vol Walker Hall on your left. The next pair of buildings you pass between will be Ozark Hall on the right and the traditional heart of the campus, its oldest building, Old Main, on the left. At the front corner of Ozark Hall, as you enter the open lawn area in front of Old Main, etc., a sidewalk will bear away to the right at an angle from the one you%26#39;re on. Take that sidewalk until you come out at the intersection of Arkansas Avenue and Dickson Street. Head east on Dickson Street until you see something that strikes your fancy, understanding, of course, that on game days it%26#39;s likely to be a zoo everywhere.
The university has a downloadable campus map and visitors guide that you might find worthwhile -- I used it to check my memory of the building names and to make sure I was up to date in putting together the directions above. You can find it at uark.edu/rd_vcad/…DownloadMap.pdf .
I%26#39;ve also created a custom Google Maps page that has the path indicated, as well as saved search results for bars along and near Dickson Street. None of the listed bars, except for George%26#39;s Majestic Lounge (a local landmark) was around in my day, so I can%26#39;t tell you anything about them. You can find it here, assuming TA%26#39;s forum software doesn%26#39;t munge the URL: maps.google.com/maps/ms…

rackensack, thanks for the info.the directions to dickson st. will be very helpful since i have no idea how to get around fayetteville.
i%26#39;m still wondering should i get to the football game early to tailgate or hit a nearby grill before going to the game. any suggestions?
tailgate..atmosphere...it%26#39;s all about ATMOSPHERE
hogfan1,assuming you,ve tailgated there before, what is the parking situation?if i get there around noon saturday (i believe it is a 6p.m. game}will there be parking available?some games i,ve been to in the past at other universities you could pretty much park any place you could fit your vehicle.what should i expect.
The best general information at this point is at the Arkansas athletic department web site: www.hogwired.com/ViewArticle.dbml…
Note that this is a general article -- the same site posts information specific to each game, so keep checking back as the game gets closer for more details.
There is some tailgating in the parking lot for the stadium, namely the large hog cooker which grills hot dogs and burgers and stays up for the whole game (smoke comes out of its nose when the razorbacks score a touchdown), except i think you have to pay. Probably the best place to tailgate is south of the stadium in the large parking lot between south razorback rd and west 6th street. DW Reynolds stadium is right off of Dickson which has many (sports) bars and restaurants. I would suggest hanging out on Dickson street for a few hours, before walking to the game.
we are also attending the ark-auburn game on the 13th, we signed up for a spot at ';platts place barn'; for tailgating. not being familiar with the area...is this a good spot?? we want to be around alot of FUN people before and after the game. please advise...
