Mother/daughter weekend in Little Rock - trip report

We just spent last weekend in LR and had a great time! Our agenda: spa visit, shopping, and good food! The Courtyard Marriott in West LR was in a nice, quiet area. Saturday morning we shopped the boutiques of The Heights and ate at Cheers. Cheers was a nice sandwich shop in an old house with lots of art and a fun atmosphere. Caracalla spa was very nice - we got our manicures and pedicures together in a double room, and then went our seperate ways for massages and facial. The only thing I would have liked is maybe a lounge area to relax for a few minutes between the services. We explored the Park Plaza Mall and Midtowne stores also. We ate dinner at Damgoode Pies, a pizza place, and really enjoyed their homemade sausage on the pizza. It%26#39;s another funky old building. Their only seating is upstairs. For dessert, we visited the ';Purple Cow,'; near our hotel. It%26#39;s a fun place for ice cream.

Sunday we went to church with friends, and ate the ';famous'; brunch at Loca Luna. If this is the ';best brunch in LR'; it%26#39;s pretty sad. We found the food to be mediocre. We did enjoy sitting on their patio. After some more shopping at Park Plaza Mall, we went to PF Changs and to a movie.

Monday we decided to check out some stores we had seen in the Hillcrest area, where we had eaten pizza previously. We were so glad we did! Haus Werk and Box Turtle were two unique stores that we loved! Then we had to get on the road for a college visit.

We had a good time, and didn%26#39;t even make it to downtown or the riverfront area - maybe next time!

Thanks so much for your report. This is the kind of information which helps the locals guide visitors to the best spots. Please try to come back and check out the River Market area, Clinton Center, Arkansas Arts Center and other places you missed.

Thanks for the report! I remember that you%26#39;d asked for information about spas and most, if not all, of us recommended Caracalla.

I don%26#39;t remember, however, your asking for info about restaurants. I live near Cheers, and would NEVER have recommended it...same is true of Loca Luna, which is just down the hill from us. I%26#39;m sorry you wasted time and money at either place, and also sorry you ended up at PF Changs :( Believe it or not, Little Rock has some excellent restaurants!

Please come back!

You know, I did hear about Trio%26#39;s and some other good restaurants, but dining with an 18 year old has it%26#39;s limits. Since it was her birthday, we went to some places I thought she would enjoy - so no fish or fancy food.

We%26#39;ll be back!

Your trip sounds so nice, and I%26#39;m glad you and your daughter had a good time. Your spa experience sounds great! You know, I%26#39;m quite a fan of Cheers in the Heights. My husband and I have eaten there many times and have always had good meals. Their hamburgers are great, as are many of their sandwiches. They also make a ';cajun'; chicken and dumpling soup that is delicious. I%26#39;ve also eaten at Damgoode Pies, but the one on Cantrell, and their pizza is yummy! Little Rock actually has so many great pizza places (Iriana%26#39;s is my favorite!). Glad you enjoyed your time here and hope you%26#39;ll be back.
