Peel Ferry

Is anyone familiar with the Peel Ferry that runs from Peel, AR across Bull Shoals to near Protem, MO? Is it still running and how often?

Peel Ferry

found some links with info using google and msn searches. it looks like ferry is still running. one of the dates someone had crossed was around april of this year. there was a picture on one of the sites of motorcycles crossing-ww.sloanclan.org/gallery/peelferry/.

from what I read, it sounds like it would cost too much money for a bridge to be built in that area, so the ferry is still used. it is run by the arkansas state hwy and transportation dept. a phone # on a sign in the picture showed the # 436-5666. much of ark is a 501 zip code. 870 in part of state. may be others, not sure. the sign says ferry is open from 7am-6pm. couple of people said it takes 15-20 minutes. 1 said it was 45 min. maybe that was round trip time? sign says ferry departs every 40 minutes.

other info sites about ferry were:

users.aristotle.net/~russjohn/peel.html

sounds like the ferry ride is free.

Thanks so much... that is really helpful

your welcome. thanks for posting question. looks like an interesting thing to do.

I will drop a note after this weekend. We are leaving in the morning for the drive to F%26#39;ville for the night then on to Bull Shoals for lunch and hopefully crossing the ferry to Branson. Where is Ward, AR?

please do let us know ferry%26#39;s still running, if info i found is right and how long it does take to cross. Ward is about 30 minutes north east of Little Rock, located just east of hwy 67/167.

I checked with the Mountain Home Corps of Engineers Park Rangers and they write: '; The ferry runs from highway 125 park to the other side at Buck Creek. The ferry cycles every 40 minutes and runs every day. Their phone number is 436-5666 and they start in Arkansas at 6:40 a.m. If you wish to ride the ferry it is a free service, but your vehicle can%26#39;t be any longer than 60 feet. Because of daylight savings time, the ferry hours may be changed so it is best to call if you are making a special trip with time limitations.';

Jimjade.... thanks so much for the info.... hopefully we will be aboard the ferry this coming Saturday afternoon from Peel across the lake to the Branson. I will post next week to let others know of our experience. There are 5 convertibles and 7 couples in our group from the Tulsa area.

Thanks again,,

DR
