arlington

hi i am new to this forum %26amp; have a few questions. my parents made resorvations for my family of 4 %26amp; my sisters family of 4 for a wknd getaway in hot springs before school starts back. my mom is very excited for all of us to be together as it has been a couple of years since we have done so. she is impressed by the arlington. after reading reviews i am-to say the least-mortified that we are going to have a terrible experience. i expect hot rooms %26amp; both of my boys %26amp; my husband who have the worst allergies to be miserable. are there any ';newer'; type rooms or any suggestions. should i ignore the bad reviews? i know we will have fun in hot springs, i am just worried about the rooms. we are apparently on the 11th floor. all of our kids looked forward to swimming but i read that the shallowest water is 6 ft %26amp; our kids are ages 4-7. someone just please tell me that it will be ok!!! i am really worried about the a/c %26amp; mold-allergies.

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Arlington and enjoyed the experience. That said, I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s and ideal place for families with small children. A lodge or condo on Lake Hamilton would be a better choice.

thank you. i would much rather stay in a condo or lake house. do you have any suggestions? i would like to stay as close to arlington as possible because my whole family will be staying there.

If you want to stay close to the Arlington the lake is not a good option. There is an Embassy Suites at the other end of downtown.

I%26#39;m an Arlington fan and have stayed there many times. Usually I have enjoyed it. That said, given the choice of the new Embassy Suites and the Arlington for my family, I%26#39;d probably go ES. It is kind of a long walk between the two, but less than a five minute drive. Take the kids to the MidAmerica Museum just outside of town. It%26#39;s a nice science museum for all ages. Your Mom will like it too.

thank you very much. i called emb suites %26amp; they are booked for that wknd. i think we will be fine. we really wont be in our room that much %26amp; we are lining up lots of fun things to do. i definately want to do the mid am museum. my kids will love it %26amp; you are right, so will my mom. she has worked for tva for years %26amp; needs a good break. if we are gonna rent a boat to take the kids tubing, would you suggest lake hamilton? i ordered an info booklet from hotsprings.org. any other suggestions for good discounts or coupons? tks 2boys

the ES is a much better room set-up for families, and you can%26#39;t beat the breakfast when you have to feed a family every morning.

Yes, do the mid-american science museum.

The Max Blade Magic show is geared towards families and would be fun.

Putt-putt golf is a family fav here... the biggest one is Pirate%26#39;s Cove

Fisherman%26#39;s Warf on Lake Hamilton is good for families eating outside at big picnic tables.

If you have family members staying at the Arlington then go play in that pool!!

Lake Hamilton can be very busy on weekends.... the main areas (around the bridges is the worst) and this is the area wear most rentals happen.

Advice: rent a boat and go in either direction and get out of the way!! you will find nice (safe) coves and little islands to swim %26amp; play. I would head towards the Hamilton/Catherine Dam for more laid back lake time.

you can come across small areas in the lake that are like sandbars when you get out of the main channel....

hope this helps!
