Hot Springs at Christmas

I am thinking of going to Hot Springs Christmas week with my parents (seniors) 2 teens and husband . Is there enough to do. My mom wants to go to Little Rock to see the CLinton Musuem so that fills one day we were going for 5. ANy ideas

It is a little hard for any city to compete with Chicago, but here goes a try:

1. You have the right idea when you say Clinton Library. It is a knockout building with great exhibits. Though the adjacent school may be closed for the holidays, see if you can get a tour of the Clinton School of Public Service next door in a historic restored Train Station. Also check the website to see if there are any lectures that week there. The Clinton name brings some of the most impressive people in the world for free lectures and panel discussions. Don%26#39;t miss the Clinton gift shop just down the street. It is a cut above the normal shop. Have lunch in the River Market and stroll around.

2. Try a second day in Little Rock. Consider splurging on a night in Little Rock%26#39;s remarkable newly restored Capital Hotel which is reopning after a huge facelift which took over a year. This will rival anything in Chicago. Stay the nighjt and take in several of the other excellent museums, such as Historic Arkansas Museum, Old Statehouse Museum, and Arkansas Arts Center. All do a real nice job and are close by. Hello Dolly may sound dated , but anything the Arkansas Repertory Theater does is a definite cut above...This is their Christmas family offering this year. The quite good Arkansas Symphony in Little Rock is performing 21-22 Dec in a seasonal special %26#39;Yuletide Spectacular%26#39;. Get some exercise on the world%26#39;s longest pedestrian/bicycle bridge ';Bigdambridge';. It links 14 miles of bike/hiking trail on each side of the river.

3. Back to Hot Springs - they have a few activities at that time, such as December Anbtiques Walk on 21 December, in the 100 block of Central Avenue. Other events include Garvan Gardens Light on the Lanscape, (a kind of Christmas lighting in a botanical Garden), and maybe the teens would like a ';round robin high school basketball shootout%26#39;'; at the HS convention center on 27-29. You will enjoy some of the art galleries which are scattered on Central Avenue and the historic bath house row.

4. And then there is the outdoors... I love to rent boats on Lake Hamilton or Lake Ouachita. The national park area around downtown is fun to hike around.
