Good place to stop overnight between Memphis & Fort Worth

Can you suggest a good town to stop in overnight on our road trip from Memphis to Fort Worth? We are not worried if we have to vear off the interstate a bit (it is a holiday after all..).

thanks :)

Good place to stop overnight between Memphis %26amp; Fort Worth

Here are some possibilities. Not sure whether you are looking for just a place to sleep or some tourist sites.

1. Little Rock (about 2-1/2 hour drive from Memphis) and right off the interstate. You might look at the Marriott Courtyard at the River Market and check out the Clinton Presidential Library down the street. Very attractive area with many nice places to eat.

2. Hot Springs (another hour from Little Rock and about 30 minutes off your interstate route). Here you might look at the historic Arlington Hotel in the old spa city. Good restaurants, much history and interesting old buildings in downtown HS.

3. Arkadelphia is about 200 miles or so from Memphis. About 7 miles off the interstate is a great State Park Lodge called DeGray (Degray.com). This is an attractive site on a lake with a restaurant.

4. Hope is about half way from Memphis to Ft Worth. There are a few chain hotels here such as Holiday Inn Express and if you are a Clinton buff, you can even visit his birthplace here. Otherwise Hope may be a little more limiting than Little Rock or Hot Springs on evening activities and dining selections.

5. Texarkana is the largest City on the Interstate in Arkansas after leaving Little Rock. It has several chain hotels and (Last time I was there) an interesting family-owned cafeteria called Bryce%26#39;s with homemade pies etc. This gets a little close to your destination and by the time I get to Texarkana, I am in the mood to go on a finish my journey to DFW.
