If you end up in Arkansas, the question is...will you come in from the north, via Kansas City, or from the west, via Oklahoma City? If from the north, Eureka Springs is inviting, which you know. Or, you could come down through Springfield, end up in Harrison. If you have time, divert to Yellville, then down 14 to the Buffalo River. Buffalo Point is a great park on the Buffalo, with some nice short hikes worth trying. Or...head from Yellville to Norfork , to Calico Rock, down to Mountain View. Blanchard Springs Caverns is a must see in this area, and both Calico Rock and Mountain View are very scenic. Eventually you will probably get down to Little Rock, the Clinton library is worth seeing. The new pedestrian bridge across murray lock and dam is recommended for fresh air, great views of the river and good photo ops. In north little rock you can get a good cliff view of the river and Little Rock from Fort Roots VA hospital complex...find the old parade grounds and historic buildings up there.

If you%26#39;re coming from the west, on interstate 40, try driving the old highway 64 which parallels 40 most of the way to Memphis, it%26#39;s very scenic. Side trips are Mt. Nebo, Mt. Magazine (highest point in AR), Altus (wine country). if you like barbeque, some of the southern best is Craig%26#39;s in Devalls Bluff, on 64, just off interstate 40.

Memphis is a super tourist destination. Be sure to tour the National Civil Rights museum, it%26#39;s a must. Blues City Cafe on Beale Street is highly recommended, just don%26#39;t let them seat you in the back. Get a table up front. The Stax Records museum is great. Don%26#39;t miss Schwab%26#39;s Dept. Store on Beale St, the voodoo dept. is fun.
