Thanksgiving getaway

I%26#39;m thinking about hot springs for a getaway for me and hubby thanksgiving weekend. I haven%26#39;t been to hot springs since I was a little girl, can%26#39;t remember anything about it. Wanting to see alot of scenery, and maybe find a affordable cabin that has alot of home comforts, we are not the camping type. I maybe to late to be thinking about this for the holiday weekend, don%26#39;t know if things will already be booked up. anyone have any suggestions, please let me know.

Thanksgiving getaway

hot springs is a nice town to visit. it is a popular tourist town. not sure if room%26#39;s will be difficult for you to book. Have never been there during that holiday to see how crowded it might get. can%26#39;t help you much with cabins, as I usually stay in hotel when there. maybe try checking yellowpages.com under lodging/hotels for possibilities. for scenery, check out garvan woodland gardens. there are also some horse riding stables around Hot Spr. that you could check on, if interested. go to arkansas.com web-site and type in hot springs in the search field for town info and attractions. Ride the Duck tours seem to be pretty popular. It is a tour of the town in a vehicle than converts from street driving to a lake boat ride. Can%26#39;t remember if those are a seasonal availability or year round.

Thanksgiving getaway

Thanksgiving is our slow time of year. Usually the only tourists we get are couples or the occasional family who likes to get away for the holidays. Cabins however do book up pretty quickly so I would try to get a reservation pretty far in advance. Five Points Cabins on Lake Hamilton are wonderful. They have 6 cabins, each has a kitchen, living area and one or two bedrooms with at least 2 bathrooms. The owners live on the property and are exceptionally nice people.

If they are booked I would try Lake Catherine State Park or Lake Ouachita State Park. Even though it is a state park, their cabins are very nice and clean.

The weather will be cold, it usually gets down in the 30%26#39;s and 40%26#39;s as the highs with lows in the 20%26#39;s and 30%26#39;s so dress warm.

As far as activities while you are in town Garvan Gardens is open year round and georgeous year round as well. The Duck tours will not be running due to the lake levels being lowerd so the waters are not safe for boat travel. Except for Thanksgiving Day all the downtown area will be open, including all the bathhouses if you were interested in the thermal bathing, there are a plethora of stores and boutiques, restaurants and art galleries.

Many people like to come during the holidays because it is not so overly crowded like it is in the summer time.
