Hot Springs in late July

This will be our first visit to Hot Springs. We%26#39;ll be celebrating our anniversary and only have a couple days/nights. We just want to get away from the City and relax, be near water, hike, walk around town, eat and maybe do some ';spa'; stuff.

1. Anyone know about Lookout Point Lakeside Inn?

2. Any other B%26amp;B%26#39;s that might be near a lake, hiking trails, etc?

3. What%26#39;s the weather like at the end of July? I%26#39;m assuming it%26#39;s near 100, but is it super hot/humid (we%26#39;re coming from Dallas) or is it a more comfortable 100 (I%26#39;ve been to Palm Springs and Las Vegas in the summer and it%26#39;s not nearly as uncomfortable as Dallas with the humidity)

4. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

We%26#39;ve loved the responses on these tripadvisor forums before and found them very helpful!

It has been really bad here for the past few days...

Hot Springs in late July

Don%26#39;t know anything about Lookout Point but it looks great on internet -- I called them a couple of weeks ago on a spur of the moment whim, but no vacancies. If you stay there please post what you thought about it. If you don%26#39;t get in there you could always get a room at the Arlington, request one with a park view. It%26#39;s a very old hotel and slightly shabby but I love it because it%26#39;s so unique. The Grand Promenade starts at the park across the street -- there are hot springs in the park and it%26#39;s beautiful. The hotel has some rooms with hot spring water coming directly into the bath (you have to ask for these rooms, they don%26#39;t all have it) There is also a hot tub for guests outside on the 7th floor that uses spring water -- it%26#39;s so hot they have to mix cold in with it. But might not be fun to hot tub outside in July. The Arlington has a terrific spa area where they give baths and massages on the 3rd or 4th floor. Make your reservations as soon as you can for that because sometimes that area is full. It%26#39;s not co-ed. Weather is going to be hot and humid -- think Houston. Rolando%26#39;s is a great restaurant across from the Arlington. Belle Arti is a good Italian restaurant down the street %26amp; you%26#39;ll hear lots of recommendations for it but I think Rolando%26#39;s is better. But if you have time go to both. I think it%26#39;s more enjoyable to stay downtown because it%26#39;s fun to people-watch and you%26#39;ll be able to get in all the walking you want. The Arlington has a HUGE veranda that%26#39;s great for sipping a drink and watching the town.

I always hear really good things about Lookout Point.

If you are not going to be on the lake (boating %26amp; that kind of stuff) then I would stay downtown. weekends on the lake are crowed and that includes the resturants.

For a more funky B%26amp;B on the lake check out Butler Manor, it just changed ownership and now has a direct tie in with a wonderful spa that%26#39;s right around the corner.

some of the best hiking is downtown! Go to the Fordyce Bathhouse in the middle of Bathhouse row and talk to any of the Rangers there and get all your best hiking info.

Yes, it%26#39;s hot... but you are coming from Dallas and really should not have a problem. :)

I also really like the bath house inside the Arlington. But the rooms are a little beat up.... but then the lobby is so cool and the pool is nice.

If you stay at the Arlington then you should try Rolando%26#39;s and if it%26#39;s not too hot then eat outside... which is hidden behind and one story up, ask about it when you enter the front door.

also just down the block is Capone%26#39;s Bar... nice little place for a drink and often has some live blues or jazz

:)

It is a little late to reply to your post but I HAD to leave a blog about Lookout point Inn. THis place is absolutely fabulous!!! I went there once in July and defaulted to them since they allowed me to bring my golden retriever!!! Since then my husband and have have opted to return since it was such a great trip.

The owners are wonderful, the breakfast is almost always to die for and the surroundings are beautiful. We enjoyed hiking and biking as well as sight seeing. We did not find too much to do in the town of hot springs.

I definitley reccomend it to everyone!
