King Biscuit Blues Festival 2005

My boyfriend and I plan on attending the Festival for the first time this year. We are looking for advice on where to camp. Any other advice you can provide first timers would be appreciated.

King Biscuit Blues Festival 2005

Hi, I growed up in Helena. So I have quite a bit of information for you. They do have a camp that is set up right behind the levee wall that is hosted by the Helena Fire Department every year. You could probably get in touch with them to find out more information on what they charge. It is in a low area I will tell you, and I have seen it rain, and become muddy, so be prepared. There are a lot of the festival goers that camp there in the Riverpark, and it seems to be a party atmosphere going on most of the weekend. They do supply firewood for sale I believe if needed. Best to arrive early for the best spots. Anyone can point you in the direction when you arrive in town. Also their is a camprgound at Storm Creek Lake that is about 20 minutes away. It is a fairly decent campsite near the Lake with swimming, and fishing although no lifegaurds or anything. And be prepared for misquitoes! They are horrible.....last time we were there the bees and flies were pretty bad around the picnic tables also. I would suggest eating at the festival, although it is like every festival the food is pricey. If you can afford to stay in one of the bed and breakfast inns, their are some very nice ones in town, but they would have to be booked real early, as they go fast. There are a few hotels, and motels, with the Casino being right across the river with Hotel, and a few in West Helena. Most of the restaurants like McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Bell, Sonic and other burger places are going to be in West Helena. I don%26#39;t think Helena has much in the way of restaurants anymore. Although their are Pasquale%26#39;s Tamales, which is a very good place and a couple of other local eateries on Cherry Street which is the main street of the festival. All of which are owned by very nice people that you can get lots of information on Helena from. I hope this was helpful! Helena is a great city for history, if you have time to visit the Library, or Museum which is housed in the Library, or the Cemetary where a lot of the Civil War soldiers are buried check it out. Also try to get a tour map of Helena and see a lot of the Old Homes and Schools of Helena. There is also the Delta Cultural Center which is by the main stage at the Blues Festival, try to stop in during the day if they are open, they have lots of books and brochures on Helena. Also their is a travel information center on the bypass. Ask someone in Helena how to find it. The information center also has a place to picnic. Which is a lot cleaner than the Lake. Hope all of this was helpful!
