Help with trip planning

Hallo. The two of us plan to spend about 3-4 days in Arkansas next week and would appreciate your help with planning the trip. We will be driving from Houston and planned to visit Little Rock, Hot Springs and Eureka Springs. (We are the type of people who don%26#39;t like to spend a lot of time in one place). We plan to bock the hotel in Little Rock for 3 nights and drive to Hot Springs and Eureka Springs from there. Does this sound as a good plan to you? And what would your suggestions be for the hotel under $100 a night in Little Rock. Or what area of town would you recommend we should stay in. Thank you.

If I were you I%26#39;d spend one night in Hot Springs, one night in Little Rock and drive to Eureka and stay in one on the hotels there. Coming up from Houston you can take U.S. 270 west off I-30 and be in H.S. in less than an hour. This would save you retracing your steps from LR to HS. In HS stay at the Arlington Hotel. I%26#39;m not certain about its rates be probably around $100.

In LR stay at the Courtyard-Downtown. This hotel is right in the middle of Little Rock%26#39;s River Market District and a short walk to the Clinton Library.

I haven%26#39;t been to Eureka in several years but some prople who post here have and will likely give you their thoughts.

Old CPA is right on. A night in each city sounds right. CPA%26#39;s recommendation of the Marriott in LR sounds good...it is perfectly located to see the city at its best. His recommendation of the Arlington in HS makes sense. It also is right on Central Avenue across from the springs and bath house row. It is definitely a unique historic experience. If you want something less traveled, the Embassy Suites is the newest downtown hotel. As to Eureka...We have stayed at the New Orleans Hotel and recommend it unless you have bad knees. It did not have an elevator when we stayed there. Of course Eureka itself is not for the walking-challenged, with its steep streetscape. Allow for a half day drive to Eureka from LR. It always seems to take longer than it shows on the map. Have a great time.

Thank you for your advises. I think we%26#39;ll stay in Arlington in Hot Springs for 2 or 3 nights and just drive to Little Rock etc which we understand is a relatively short drive. They have good packages there these days.

One thing you need to consider in making H.S. your base in central Arkansas is that traffic between L.R. and Benton (Benton is roughly half way to H.S.) is brutal beginning about 4:PM to 7:PM . There are a large number of commuters living in towns south of L.R. who crowd Interstate-30. Of course in the morning the reverse is true and the rush is over by 9:AM. Any other time of day the trip is an hour.

While in H.S. try to eat breakfast at the Pancake Shop. It%26#39;s right across Central AV from the Arlington and has the best breakfast in Arkansas.

Jack if you haven%26#39;t left yet, one last bit of sdvice. DO NOT EXCEED the speed limit between Benton and Hot Springs. The speedtrappers are out in full force.
