crescent hotel ghost tour

The crescent hotel ghost tour was wonderful! The guide provided us with tons on the hotel%26#39;s history and a lesson in ghost lore. We were encouraged to take lots of pictures, which I did, and I managed to capture several ';ghost'; photos. Not for the faint of heart, but if you are at all interested in the paranormal it is a must see on your visit to Eureka Springs!

Is the tour offered year-round, or is it a Halloween %26#39;thing%26#39;? Just wondering!! Thanks!

How long did the tour last? Can you purchase the tickets ahead of time or do you have to wait until the day of the show?

Hi! the tour lasts a couple of hours. The tour starts at 8pm and the ticket office at the hotel doesn%26#39;t open until 7:30 pm. It is on the 2 nd floor. The tour is offered everynight. unfourtunatly, you cannot buy tickets ahead of time. The night we attended, the tour group was so large that they split us up into 2 groups. As a background of the hotel, It was built in the 1800%26#39;s as a hotel. A scam artist purchased it in the 30%26#39;s and made it into a fraudulent cancer cure center. Several hundred people died there as a result of the bogus cures. His name was Dr, Norman Baker. You may want to read a bit of history online before going. The crescent was featured on the sci fi series ghost hunters. The episode is from last season and available on dvd. I took about 4 rolls of film and am confident I have about 3-4 actual ghost photos. There is no one hour photo available in Eureka Springs so the next day I had to tke them to the wallmart in the next town of Berryville. I am not a tech person and have not graduated to digital yet! I have heard that digital actually pick ups paranormal images better than 35 mn. If you go, enjoy the town .. it is wonderful!

thanks... Jana

Thanks for the great review. AM trying to talk hubby into a trip to Eureka just to do the ghost tour (we were in Eureka this past summer but didn%26#39;t know about the ghost tour!) Does anyone know the cost for the tour? I was talking to family about this tour and they thought it was fairly expensive!

It was $17.50 for adults and I am not sure of the price for children.

Thanks for your response ---- that price compares to less than a ticket to a music show, so it%26#39;s not bad!

We did the ghost tour and really enjoyed it. It was very interesting, not hokey, but a bit spooky. We had a strange experience after it as we were leaving. The lights went flicking on and off and wouldn%26#39;t stop. It was a bit strange. I would reccommend it. It%26#39;s so much better than the hokey stuff up near the Christ of the Ozarks statue.

I love the historical aspect and the feel of the downtown. Great shopping and local artist and craftsman. That is the only place that we go in Eureka.

Did once go to Quigley%26#39;s Castle. Ew. Would NOT reccommend it.

Don%26#39;t they have rooms available to stay in overnight? My mother wants to go as her b-day present, and I was wondering how I%26#39;d be able to find out more about prices and room availability. I hear some rooms are more active than others. I was also wondering if it would be wise for me to go, being 24 weeks pregnant. We want to go sometime toward the end of Feb, so I%26#39;d be about 27-28 weeks then... What do you think?

I know that Room 218 is considered to be the most haunted. Also, the ghost tour company is also located along the 2nd floor corridor. That is were some of the big ';hauntings'; were located. (ie: workman fell to his death and landed at this location; ghostly nurses seen wheeling some of Dr. Baker%26#39;s patients down the 2nd floor corridor) If you are wanting a section of the hotel with more paranormal activity, this may be the section of the hotel to ask the reservationist about. When we stayed there and did the tour, it was not scary....just interesting. We did have an experience with the lights of the front portico flicking on and off when we were under it. As soon as we acknowledged it and attributed it to the spirits of the hotel, it stopped. (not scary, but kind of neat in a wierd way)

It is a very grand and historical hotel. The lobby. exterior grounds, and Dr. Baker%26#39;s lounge on the top floor are wonderful. The view can%26#39;t be beat. I was a bit dissappointed with the room. I was just expecting more. I can%26#39;t explain it. The rooms at the bed %26amp; breakfasts that we have stayed at were much nicer. We did stay on the 2nd floor, but not in the ghostly corridor. I have not eaten at the restaurant or been to the spa, but I have heard that they are nice. For dinner, I%26#39;d suggest the short walk done to Ermillio%26#39;s. It%26#39;s awesome. Also, take the horse carriage ride around the town. It begins at the Crescent. The historical museum is wonderful and full of information. We also did the walking tour of the town. Enjoy. I think that you will be fine being pregnant in the 2nd trimester. The hill back up to the mountain needs to be taken slowly. If you tire, take the trolley. Have a great time! I am wanting to take my mother there for a girls trip too. I am not sure how it will be in February. I have only been in the summer.

I just found this website. You may want to check it out. It tells of several more active rooms.
