We are interested in visting and wondered how far Little Rock is from the BIG ROCKS (just kidding), the Crater of Diamonds state park? Is there a closer city with an airport/hotels to this state park? Thanks for any replies and/or suggestions.
How far to the DIAMONDS?
I would allow 2-1/2 to 3 hours to get from Little Rock to Crater of Diamonds State Park. Mapquest shows the distance at only 110 miles but much of the driving is on two-lane roads and it can be slow traveling. There are also some speed traps along this stretch so be careful. The NW Arkansas Airport is twice the distance away. There is a small airport in Hot Springs but I believe it only services Mesa Airlines. Mountain Harbor Resort is fairly near the mine and might be a place to look into staying. I was there at a conference this year and it is pretty nice.
