Avoid the Arlington Hotel

Do not stay at the Arlington Hotel. When we arrived, the bell boy loaded all of our luggage including cameras on a cart and we never saw any of it again. We finally received a check from the Arlington%26#39;s insurance company but there is an Arkansas State law that limits the proprietor%26#39;s liability to $300 per bag including contents so we only received a small part of our loss. We left the Arlington the next morning and checked into the Austin Hotel so that we could file the police report, etc. The Austin Hotel was great! The people were friendly and very helpful. We had to leave since we did not have any clothes, medicine, etc (Arlington lost everything) and had to pay an additional $200 penalty to fly home early.

Avoid the Arlington Hotel

This sounds like a really unfortunate incident. It is hard to know what kind of security lapse occurred which resulted in this terrible loss of property. I have checked in many times at the Arlington and found the check-in service one of the best things about the hotel. Unfortunately, the Arlington has not kept up with the hospitality industry. It is potentially a magnificent world class facility but management has not invested as it should, in my view. I am hopeful that the City of Hot Springs will intervene and somehow encourage upgrade of this amazing historic facility. Its demise would drastically impact the renewal of this interesting old city.

Avoid the Arlington Hotel

A couple of years ago we attended Garrison Keillor%26#39;s show in Hot Springs. Having had relatives living there and at one time owning a home on Lake Hamilton we%26#39;d never had occasion to stay at the Arlington. We decided that it was something we needed to do so we reserved a room. For an old hotel it wasn%26#39;t bad. It was clean, the bath was fine and the bed comfortable. It was a little run down but in as sort of genteel way. Our one big disappointment was the view from our room. We were on the back side of the building and overlooked all the mechanical and housekeeping part of the hotel. I%26#39;d advise anybody staying at the Arlington to demand a room facing the street.
