downtown hotel

Hi. I am traveling to LR for a wedding in March and would like to stay downtown. I noted that the Capital Hotel is closed for rennovations. Does anyone have advice about the ';new'; Marriott Courtyard (near Clinton Library) - versus - the Peabody (which I know as the Excelsior from way back when. I haven%26#39;t been in LR in years! thanks.

I have had friends and relatives stay at the Peabody and had good things to say. I toured it recently when I was planning a convention and it looked great. The Marriott is several floors of a new multi-story condominium building very near the Clinton Library and on lively President Clinton Avenue (East Markham) in the River Market area. I think they have a food arrangement with Vermillion Water Grille, a nice upscale place run by Michael Selig, a local chef. It%26#39;s a great looking building in the most fun part of the city. Great neighborhood for walking.

I would also like to suggest the underground pub while your there, It is located in the rivermarket. it has some good burgers and fish and chips...And stickey fingers also. As far as the hotels go the peabody has some mixed reviews.

I%26#39;ve lived in Little Rock for decades and the last time I stayed at the Peabody, it was the Excelsior. My guess is that you%26#39;ll probably be fine at either the Peabody or the Marriott Courtyard.
