To Fayetteville from Atl - go to Branson too?

Me, my husband and 16 year old son will be in Fayetteville, June 16-19. He will play in the PG National Showcase (baseball) for the majority of the time. However, we MAY have time to do something fun. I would LOVE to go whitewater rafting IF we have time on Monday. Is there a river close, that we could go for about 3 hours? Our flight heads back on Monday at 3pm. Or... if we have some time on Sunday - and can%26#39;t go rafting, what would you suggest is something fun for us three to do? Thanks! -E

The best place to go for white water rafting is the buffalo river, it is about a 2 hour drive, , Also if your interested in branson, you will be there on veterans week, it will be a little busier than usual. It ends on sunday the 18th of June. But branson has lot to offer if you like to go t o the lake. branson has two lakes to choose from, One is known for it%26#39;s trout and the other is known for it%26#39;s bass. Branson has tons of great shows, two theme parks, and one outdoor water park, and one small indoor water park. There is some realy good shopping, great places to eat. The traffic is the only drawback

. It can be a nightmare to get down the main 76 strip. But It is worth the effort. I also think you might want to check out eureka Springs, It is a town that gives you a feel for a 19th century victorian village, It features the famous crescent hotel , that is believed to be haunted, and the famous passion play. it has a cool trolley that runs down town, and has quaint shops, art galleries. and wonderful architecture .

There are also some great places to canoe on the Mulberry River about an hour south of Fayetteville. The Buffalo River is probably the best place to go. There is also some good hiking at Devil%26#39;s Dens State Park about 30 minutes south of Fayetteville - several cools caves and nice overlooks. Eureka Springs is a cool little town - Im just not sure how much a 16 year old boy would appreciate it. I personally dislike Branson - far to crowded and showy for me. I can%26#39;t imagine that a 16 year old boy would like too much about it either. Additionally, Branson will be a pretty long drive from Fayetteville if you do not have much time.

What kind of activities does your family like to do?

I disagree about a 16 year old not likeing branson. I think branson gets a bad rap from some people about being for old people. And that%26#39;s simply not true. There are tons of kids and teens that really enjoy it.
