I am travelling from eastern Canada enroute to the Grand Canyon, avoiding interstates as much as possible. Spending the night in Peducah KY and ending up eventually in Oklahoma City. Any suggestions for a stopping off point in Northern AK. Travel will be around Oct 9. thanks
Stopping place in northern Arkansas
Are you looking for someplace that would be a good destination for sightseeing, dining, etc., or just someplace where you could refuel, grab a bite, stretch your legs, and get on the road again? I ask because most of the places that%26#39;d be of any interest would probably be eight hours or more out of Paducah if you avoid interstates, which is probably farther than you%26#39;re thinking if you%26#39;re looking for a mid-point break. Mountain Home is probably the first place you%26#39;d get to with any sort of tourist interest; it%26#39;d probably be about 7 hours from Paducah; Harrison would be another hour to so beyond that, while Eureka Springs, which might otherwise be my first recommendation, would be another hour or so past Harrison. From Mountain Home, you%26#39;d be another 7 hours or more out from Oklahoma City.

Rackensack - exactly what I was thinking. Lots of curvy, hilly roads in North AR and mileage is not reflective of drive time.
I would suggest spending the night at Eureka Springs - lots more dining and lodging options.
