Generally the best white water in Arkansas is in the spring and is considerably north of Hot Springs... Places like the upper Buffalo, Big Piney and Mulberry Rivers. The Caddo is a nice little river not too far from Hot Springs. You might contact Caddo River Camping and Canoe Rental at www.caddoriver.com for more info. You will find Hot Springs itself a bit hectic if you are looking for nature experiences, though there are pockets of calm. There are some fairly nice trails in the park itself such as those leading from Gulpha Gorge but this is really more of an urban park. Tim Ernst%26#39;s various books on the Ouachita Trail and other Arkansas hiking are the best resources for serious hiking in the area. I have yet to find a website which matches his descriptions.
