Moving to Fayetteville, What is there to do?

My family is moving to Fayetteville soon am I am looking for suggestions for things to do with my family once we get there. I am a stay-at-home mom with a 2 (almost 3 year old) and a 3 month old. Does anyone have any suggestions for things we could do during the day? Are there any great kid-friendly activities for kids that age in the area? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Moving to Fayetteville, What is there to do?

We lived in Fayetteville for almost 3 plus years, leaving in July 99 for Atlanta. When we left, we had a 6 month- old and now we have 6 and a half year old and a 3 and a half year old. We try and go back once a year for a Razorback ballgame and we will be there Labor Day Weekend this year. We have very fond memories of our time there, of course we were childless most of that time. There is a drive thru animal park with a petting zoo at Gentry (about a 20 minute drive). This park had monkeys that will climb on your car (you can feed the animals as you drive through), Llamas, Ostrichs, Bison, etc. and in the petting zoo there are kangaroos to pet! I know there are parks, etc. I would suggest with children as young as yours are to join a Mom%26#39;s Club, it is a national organization and I am assuming that there are chapters in Fayetteville. I joined in Atlanta and then when we moved to St. Louis. It focuses on activities for moms and preschool children usually one day a week and they also can set you up with playgroups. If there isn%26#39;t a Mom%26#39;s Club there is probably another organization that is similar. If you are into working out, the Fayetteville Athletic Club is a great place and their childcare was really good when I used it. There is a drive-in movie that operates during the summer and it is a lot of fun. I would also suggesst trying out a Mommie-N-Me class or a parent/ child gymnastics/ movement class to meet others with children your children%26#39;s ages. I think there is a place across the street from the Fayetteville Athletic Club. I hope I have been some help. We moved 3 times in 3 years, so I have been there. Best of luck!

Fayetteville also has several nice parks, including Wilson Park, centrally located in town with a pool, perimeter walking with lots of shade trees (that are beautiful in the fall!), tennis and ball facilities, as well as playgrounds and a children%26#39;s castle and ';moat';. Also for the kids, there is putt-putt golf, and a go cart place. We have a beautiful new library with views of the Ozarks and it is very kid friendly. Also, the farmer%26#39;s market is on tues and thurs mornings at the square, but saturday is the best day- sometimes there are special kid%26#39;s days up there. But good a good atmosphere and lots of locally grown produce and plants and some pastries and coffee. A good time for all ages. It runs April through Halloween.

The university area is really nice- the campus is pretty and Dickson Street is always hopping, most every evening. A good variety of foods, music and beverages. Even a piano bar, which I hear is lots of fun. I have lived here since 87 and I love Fayetteville. A great place for families.
