La Quinta Inn on Broadway Street

We need updated information concerning activities around the

La Quinta Inn, we will be bringing a group of soccer players down

for a tourn. in June. How is this hotel for staying?

La Quinta Inn on Broadway Street

This is a high rise hotel which started as a Holiday Inn maybe in the 1970%26#39;s then went through other management to LaQuinta. There have been some major renovations in recent years but I have not gotten a look at the rooms recently. They have a small pool and a parking garage. This is an urban hotel on a busy street across from Mcdonalds, Backyard Burgers, and down the street from Wendy%26#39;s. It is very near I-630 and thus convenient. It would seem that this would be more desirable than the typical LaQuinta which usually has open corridors and stairs. My 10 year-old daughter and her friends like elevators and would probably find this hi-rise building kind of fun. It is an easy drive to the soccer fields at Murray Park or Riverdale...not sure where else you might be playing. Another option for you downtown might be the Doubletree. It is in a little more interesting part of the downtown, backing up to the river and closer to the River Market area, but it would likely be pricier and your soccer guys would probably not know the difference. I would be surprised if the LaQuinta fails to meet your expectations. You might like to take the kids on the river Rail Trolley which runs on Markham over to the River Market. Check out the map and info at www.cat.org/rrail/ Hope your stay in Little Rock is enjoyable and let us know how the downtown LaQuinta works out if you get the chance..

Would this area of town be safe? That is the main concern.

Thanks.

Safety is difficult to assess at any location. I work a couple blocks from the LaQuinta and I walk by the hotel at all daylight hours without a single thought of concern. The tallest and most upscale skyscraper in the State is right across the street from the hotel. After dark in any urban area one should be cautious and I would certainly chaperone the kids at all times and be observant. It is not isolated and empty at night with the fast foods places nearby, so that is a positive factor about this location. One option would be for you to look for a more suburban location, say in the I430/Shackleford corridor. My daughter enjoys Embassy Suites with its glass elevators and indoor pool, though it would be a step up in price. Where is your soccer game?

An area that would be safe and have lots of shopping and food, would be just down the freeway to mccain mall. It is 5.14 miles from the river market to mccain mall area. there%26#39;s a hampton inn, that is right near the mall.

Hampton Inn, North Little Rock/McCain Mall is conveniently located on Warden Rd. Just off McCain Blvd. From I-40, take exit 155 (HWY 167/67 North), take exit 1B McCain Blvd West, go over pass and turn right on Warden Rd., and the hotel is located behind the Golden Corral Restaurant. 路 陆 mile from McCain Mall 路 4 miles from All-Tel Arena 路 Little Rock Airforce Base 路 5 miles from Downtown Little Rock 路

You still could get to where ever you want to go easy, the freeway is right there....

we have a great imax theater, and the world%26#39;s FIRST EpiSphere Digital Planetarium.

It welcomes big groups, and is easy to find....

I think you would be way better off there, than down town,,,,,,easier to get around, and more to do that young people would enjoy...

SuzyQ50 Giving you advice on LR hotels would be easier if we knew where your teams would be playing. If your matches are in LR staying in NLR wouldn%26#39;t be a good idea. Also LR would be a poor choice if your matches are in NLR. As for the La Quinta%26#39;s location, I wouldn%26#39;t hesitate to stay there.

Little rock and north little rock are so close , that staying in one and driving to where you are playing is not that big of a deal.. I live in cabot and drive all over little rock and north little rock...they are one in the same as far as distance..what%26#39;s 5 miles?

West little rock has a few good hotels, but ....there are a couple that have had crime troubles..... It will cost you more to stay in west little rock, and the hotels around down town are more pricey, and since your goal is safety and the kids soccer game, and not here to tour the town, the area I suggest would be good.....I go around the mccain mall every week and have never felt unsafe..But when i%26#39;m in downtown litle rock, I have felt unsafe...just read a few post of the downtown hotels and you will see that several have felt unsafe..

And it probably will be late after the game, then the area I have told you about would be good....

I am not sure this web site is well served by generalizations that particular parts of a city are unsafe. Safety is something which must be considered anyplace we travel. Downtown Little Rock is a vibrant and exciting place. I take my 10 year old down and her friends there often to some of the best museums in the South without the least problem occurring.

sure the river market area is generally safe, but there are areas in all city%26#39;s mostly within downtown areas that are not safe , during certain times, Like after dark.. I wasn%26#39;t trying to shed a bad light on our fair city, but simply trying to point out that with a group of youths, It might be a bit more safer in an area that has a better record of safety...we have had over 20 murders this year...just in little rock...so it is public knowledge...Better to stick with areas that known to be safe...

Ater re reading her post, i see that she did not say which la quinta she was staying at, there are several.. I read jimjade3%26#39;s post and he assumed it was the one from downtown,,,So which location are you staying at...there are 5 in litle rock and two in north litle rock....

The murders that have occurred in LR have been for the most part, 1, between people who knew each other, 2, not in the downtown area and 3, were not attacks on visitors to town. Many of these crimes have been drug related. Also most have taken place in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Little Rock, like any city, has areas where strangers shouldn%26#39;t venture. In the last couple of years I%26#39;ve spent time in New York, Chicago, DC, Houston and Nashville. I felt safe in each town but certainly didn%26#39;t visit areas know to have high crime
