Have been to EUR Springs about 20 times. One of the nicest places we%26#39;ve stayed at is Redwood Cottage. Check out their website.. which does not do it justice. It is not listed around here, but is outstanding and well-located.
Stayed at Redwood Cottage and Loved it
Thanks for the report on Redwood Cottage-saw the website a few weeks ago and had wondered about the property. It looks darling!
What size bed does it have? Queen or King
Stayed at Redwood Cottage and Loved it
It has a queen sized bed. The mattress is firm.. and if you read my pointed reviews, you may notice we%26#39;re picky about mattresses(!). We slept so soundly at this place.. it%26#39;s simply charming. The gas stove they have is VERY powerful.. which means turn it up, then turn it off.. otherwise you will heat yourself out of the place.
The place is among the best we%26#39;ve stayed at. The owner owns a cottage next door to Redwood as well. It looked nice also.
To say the place is charming is an understatement. The owner has put her personal touches all over the place and her husband apparently is a good carpenter, because rehabbing a place this old must have been a gigantic task. The place is clean, modern, but retains its charm. For the elderly, fyi the bedroom is upstairs and the stairs are HUGE.. very tough to climb for people with leg problems.. the owner tells you this upfront (we had no problems with this at all).
Oh yes, we also stayed at Enchanted Forest, which was astoundingly nice as well. I highly recommend either place.. it%26#39;s usually fun to split our nights up between several places. The Redwood Cottage is in a residential area, right in town. You get a feel of the history when staying at this place.. with every amenity you can think of. Our fav place is Treehouse Cottages, but good luck getting in there.. you almost need a full moon and 9 month%26#39;s notice to get in there.. it is great, though. For the money, Redwood is our choice.
Thanks for all your info on the Redwood Cottage-it does sound wonderful and it is in a nice location where you can walk down to little lake Eureka. We are adding it to our list of places to stay. It is near Mimosa %26amp; Wildflower cottages which are nice lodging options as well-I think Wildflower cottage has the same owner as Redwood? At any rate we really love that part of town.
And you are absolutely correct on the TreeHouse%26#39;s it takes months of planning and a small miracle to get a room there-they are always booked months in advance.
Thanks again we really appreciate all the extra info on Redwood
Lake Eureka? Never heard of that. You are correct.. the owner owns Wildflower Cottages, of which Redwood is a part. There are two cottages, right next-door to one another. There is some traffic in the area, but it%26#39;s almost non-existent at night. You have to park in a weird way, which is understandable considering the funky streets in the area (hilly and narrow). It was a fun time. I think you still have to drive some places in winter weather.
Enchanted Forest is worth looking into.
We once stayed at Hidden Valley as well, but it%26#39;s under new ownership. We loved the owners before. Now we simply do not know.
Another austere place is reportedly Arsenic and Old Lace, but they seem quite high. Cinnamon Valley is also astoundingly nice, but they charge a small fortune to stay there (their prices are really high, but it%26#39;s a nice place).
With Redwood, you get a nice hot tub, which they keep clean, a nice clean place, with modern, yet charming, touches. Our goal is to rent both cottages, next to one another, and bring a relative or two with us.. meaning one cottage per couple, like a family trip, but with seclusion. What is it, we always ask, about this charming town??? We keep getting drawn back to the area.. and each time we re-visit, we want to move there one day. Unsure why.. but the feelings are genuine.
