Nice town to stop in off I40 between Memphis and Tulsa?

Hi, we will be travelling to Tulsa from Memphis on the I40 and Tulsa and would like to stop in a town somewhere for a rest stop and lunch. Can anyone suggest where would be best for us to stop? Maybe even a little more than half way would be good.

thanks heaps.

Conway or North Little Rock will have your largest choices for eating places. North Little Rock will get you over half way. Not far off the highway is a Texas Roadhouse (steak type place), Carino%26#39;s (Italian-my favorite), Olive Garden (Italian), Black Eye Pea (american home-style) and several other chain restaurants.

oops! read that wrong. Conway will get you further than North Little Rock. Russellville is smaller than Conway (not as many places to eat at), but it will get you even further.

Thank you for that info. I will have a look on the net at those towns.

Russellville, Arkansas is almost exactly halfway between Memphis and Tulsa. The Old South Restaurant is located off

I-40 but easy to find. Look at the TA Russellville forum for information and specifically at the Old South for a Google map.

Whatever you do don%26#39;t try to eat in North Little Rock. The places recommended are in a congested, confusing and busy area.

north little rock (suburb of our capital city-little rock) has a population of about 56,000. little rock, biggest city in state is around 186,000 or so. the only time north little rock and little rock areas are truly busy is during rush hour (from 3:30 to 6pm). unless there is a wreck, it shouldn%26#39;t be a problem at any other time. the access roads are 1 way. however, all the restaurants are in a fairly concentrated area. not hard to miss, right off the highway. either off of the access roads, or down McCain Blvd. There are 2 exits for McCain Blvd. Most of the restaurants you will need to take the 2nd exit to get to. It just depends on what you are used to traffic wise. It%26#39;s nowhere near the size of cities like Houston, Memphis, Oklahoma City.

I lived a half mile from the area in question and wouldn%26#39;t advise anybody just passing through to go there for a meal. NLR isn%26#39;t half way to their destination. They can drive to Russellville and see a little of small town southern life instead of a bunch of chain restaurants, strip centers and a run-down mall which is the McCain/Hwy 67 area.

I%26#39;d get off at the last Conway exit, Highway 65, and right in front of you is a place called Marketplace Grill. I think it%26#39;s a comfortable, attractive family oriented place with nice staff and a good variety on the menu.

I%26#39;d have to agree, Conway would make the most sense. You%26#39;ll be about 3.5 hours from Tulsa. There are several good places to eat close to I40 so you won%26#39;t have to drive around looking for something.

thanks everyone, i think russellville will be where we will stop. we%26#39;d like to see a small town in arkansas so this might be the one!
