My teenage boys would like to plan a houseboat vacation for some fishing. We%26#39;ve been to lake Ouachita years ago and know it is beautiful, but does anyone have any advice on houseboating either in Arkansas or anywhere in the midwest or near midwest?

You can rent houseboats on either Norfork Lake, 101 Boat Dock http://www.101boatdock.com, or Bull Shoals Lake at Bull Shoals Lake Boat Dock http://www.bullshoalslakeboatdock.com. Either one of these facilities would be happy to help you. Both lakes are located in North Central Arkansas near Mountain Home.

This will probably come across as ignorant and ill-informed but I urge anyone who spends the night on a houseboat to have someone who is knowledgeable check out the heat and air system. My Dad%26#39;s best friend and his family were killed while sleeping on a houseboat by carbon monoxide poisoning due to a faulty heat and air system. An identical situation occurred not long ago in a similar boat on the Arkansas River in Little Rock where a group of young adults lost their lives.
